Bio Products Laboratory Ltd (BPL), a leading manufacturer of plasma-derived protein therapies, are pleased to announce that on 22 April, BPL Plasma opened its 29th plasma donation centre. Located at 4861 W Commerce Street in San Antonio, Texas, the centre is internally referred to as “San Antonio Commerce” to distinguish it from BPL Plasma’s other donation centre in San Antonio.
This is the first plasma donation centre opened by BPL Plasma in 2022, following the opening of two centres last year in Texas: El Paso “Alameda” in October and El Paso “Zaragoza” in November.
Marvin Dyke, President for BPL Plasma, said, “We are very proud to add to the growing fleet of donation centres supplying BPL Therapeutics. New centre development is critical to growing our plasma collection capacity and the supply of plasma. Our ability to continuously recruit new donors and deliver a consistently superior donor experience to earn their loyalty, really makes the difference in growing the plasma supply to meet both manufacturing and commercial goals.
“That is also why the people who walk into our centres are much more than donors — they are lifelines. Their donation, quite literally, transforms the lives of patients around the world and we are deeply grateful to each and every one of them.
“Thank you to the new centre development team, and all the corporate support and centre teams involved in making this opening a success.”
BPL consists of two operating divisions — BPL Plasma and BPL Therapeutics. BPL Plasma, headquartered in Austin, Texas and operating in the U.S., collects plasma from donors in 29 centres across the US (with the new centre pipeline soon to increase). BPL Plasma employs over 900 staff to support the needs of donors and ensure high-quality plasma collection in all of their centres.
